A SETTING
with centuries of history
At Dominio de Donas, we understand that all living things are intertwined with their past and with the land that sustains them. Located in one of the most emblematic areas of the D.O. Rueda, Dominio de Donas is where an extraordinary place meets the courage to pause along the way in pursuit of the very best and, above all, the crafting of truly unique wines.
A TERROIR
impossible to replicate
The Zapardiel river makes the Dominio de Donas vineyard a singular, unrepeatable setting. Soils range from light sands beside the river to clay-limestone marls at the highest points, with differences in altitude of nearly 100 metres and temperature variations of between 6 and 8 °C from one plot to another. Learning to read and listen to this landscape with precision was the first step. After a meticulous vineyard regeneration process, we were able to identify the plots with the greatest potential and focus our work where the land responds with the most character. All of this creates a unique tension in the wine: ripe fruit held in check by a natural, vibrant acidity.
A LAND OF WINE
since its very origins
Documented as Donas since 1265, this historic enclave has preserved its essence over time. As early as the 18th century, records certify the cultivation of the vine in the Parish of Donas, where a small settlement of around 50 people lived entirely devoted to farming and wine. Reclaiming the name Donas is, therefore, an act of memory and integrity. We did not invent a history, we rescued it.
REGENERATING THE LAND
to create a biodiverse environment
At Dominio de Donas, caring for the land is the origin of everything. We work the vineyard as a living organism through regenerative viticulture, recovering native flora and repopulating protected species to restore the environment to its natural state. Biodiversity, organic farming and respect for the land as the pillars of a philosophy that defines the essence of our wines.
